Infants
We have new books in our classroom! To encourage book awareness this month, we will encourage the younger infants to explore books with sight, touch, and taste. The older infants will explore books by looking intently at or reaching for colorful pictures in books.
Family Engagement/Special Events– Please join us for Open House on Monday 10/1 from 5:00-5:45! Don’t forget to wear your costume to school on Wednesday 10/31 for our Halloween Party!

Crawlers
This month we will continue to focus on language development as we work on producing some words and work-like sounds. We will also focus on Literacy as the children work on focusing their attention for short periods of time in shared reading experiences by pointing to pages and making simple sounds.

Younger Toddlers
This month we will focus on social and emotional development. The children will engage in positive relationships and interactions with others as we work on learning our friend’s names. We will also work on self regulation as we work on responding to redirection most of the time.
Family Engagement– This month we will be sending home a pumpkin activity for you to do with your child. Please bring it back so we can display in our classroom.

Please have your child come to school dressed in their costume! Look for a sign-up sheet for our party!

This month our focus will be on social and emotional development. We will work on self regulation as we work on responding to redirection most of the time as well as positive relationships with their peers.
Family Engagement– Please bring in a small pumpkin for your child to decorate on 10/31!

3’s Preschool
This month the children will follow two step directions involving familiar experiences and objects. This will allow children to better transition from one activity to another. The children will also work on following adult directions when given simple guidance, helping them to understand the proper way to complete tasks.

4’s Pre-K
This month we will be learning about fire safety. The children will participate in a fire safety scavenger hunt and fire safety drills. They will become increasingly able to identify unsafe situations and gradually respond to them. We will also be working on a science unit about pumpkins. We will be comparing and contrasting pumpkin characteristics and learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. The children will learn to plan for and carry out investigations and to collect evaluate and communicate information.
Special Events– 10/9-10/18 Confreda Farms Field Trip $15
10/31 Spooktacular Halloween Party
Family Engagement Activity– The children will be having show and share for several more letters this month (I, L, and F). We will also be having a very special Halloween Show and Share on October 25th. The children will be invited to bring in a Halloween item (decoration, book, toy, etc.) from home to tell the class about.

K-Prep
This month we will focus on Literacy and Alphabet Knowledge. The children will work on recognizing and identifying letters and make letter sound connections. We will also focus on science as the children explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are living, non-living, man-made, or naturally occurring.
Family Engagement– Look for letters from your child’s name while out running errands or while riding by store signs and road signs. This will help them recognize letters in environmental print.
