November 2019 – Newsletter – Smithfield
We will be closed on Monday, November 11th for Veteran’s Day and November 28th & 29th for Thanksgiving. We would like to wish everyone a happy holiday.

We would like to wish these staff members a very Happy Birthday: Miss Victoria 11/2 and Miss Marion 11/24.
Infant Room A and B: Ms. Justine, Ms. Jessylnn, Ms. Amy and Ms. Alicia
- Children will become increasingly able to identify unsafe situations and gradually learn strategies for responding to them.
- Children will develop the ability to control impulses.
Family Engagement:
Sending feathers home to write down what you are for thankful for and bring back in for our turkey.

- Children will develop large muscle control, strength, and coordination.
- Children will also engage in positive relationships and interactions with other children.

Younger Toddler Room A+B: Ms. Alex, Ms. MiChaela, Ms. Ja’Kayla and Ms. Madison
- Children will engage in positive relationships and interactions with other children. With our old friends leaving and new friends moving up, we will be working on building new relationships in toddler town by playing new games, practicing sharing and respecting personal space with peers.
- Children will develop the confidence to complete an action successfully or independently. We will be working on cleaning up our play areas when done playing.
Family Engagement:
Toddlers will be sending home a pre-cut turkey. Please help your little one decorate it.

Older Toddlers Room: Ms. Laura and Ms. Louise
- Children will begin to recognize simple environmental print(E.G. ‘M’ for McDonald’s)
- Children will attend to specific features of objects and identify elements within a complex figure(naming animals in a farmyard picture)

Send in a favorite (healthy) snack for our ‘Thanksgiving Feast”

Three’s and Fours Room: Ms. Mishele and Ms. Cammie Ms. Victoria and Ms. Jessica
- Children will develop self-help skills. We will focus on our handwashing skills with and without assistance.
- Children will also engage in positive relationships and interactions with other children. We will focus on teaching the children to seek assistance from an adult caregiver in resolving conflicts with other children.
Family Engagement:
We will be sending home “turkey feathers”! Please write something on each feather, that your family is grateful for.

Pre-K Classroom: Ms. Sabrina and Ms. Alyssia
- Children will recognize and order each written numeral up to 10. The children will use chalkboards to practice writing numbers 1 – 10.
- Children will describe changes that occur in the natural environment over time. We are closely observing the changes in our pumpkin after cutting it open.

Take home project to work on as a family.
