Infants
This month we will focus on social and emotional development. The babies will learn to develop trust in and engage positively with familiar adults as they “converse” with their caregivers by imitating or making faces at adults who make faces at them. They will also engage in turn-taking interactions, such as peek a boo, smiling, laughing or vocalizing.
Family Engagement– Snowflake pictures! Please bring in 5 photos of mom, dad, baby siblings, pets, extended family. We will display in our classroom for the holidays!
Special Events– 11/6- picture day

Crawlers
This month we will focus on social and emotional development as the children engage in positive relationships and interactions with their friends. We will also focus on literacy as we work on pointing to different pictures in a story book and repeating the word.
Family Engagement– Please bring in 4-6 family photos that we can use with your child for a project!

Young Toddlers
This month we will focus on social and emotional development. The children will work on developing the ability to control impulses as well as work on encouraging them to sit for a short activity. We will also focus on language development as we work on new sign language words; more and all done.
Family Engagement– This month we are asking our families to decorate a turkey and bring it for us to display in our classroom..

Older Toddlers
This month we will focus on social studies. The children will gain awareness of how they relate to their families and their friends families. We will also focus on social and emotional development as we work on staying on task and following classroom rules; walking feet, nice hands, listening ears, inside voices.
Family Engagement– This month we are asking our families to make a collage of the things that you are thankful for with your child and return for us to display in our classroom!
3’s Preschool
This month we will focus on language development. The children will ask “who”, “what”, “why”, and “where” questions when learning about a new topic. These questions will allow them to direct the discussion. The children will also identify basic similarities and differences between themselves and others. This will allow them to see how and why we are all unique and special.
Family Engagement- November Books! This month we will be asking our families to keep track of the books you read at home with your child. Please bring back by 11/20.

4’s Pre-K
Fall is here! This month we will be discussing changes to our environment. We will be learning about different types of trees and what happens to them during the fall. The children will be exploring different types of leaves as well. The children will learn to order and sort objects by common attributes. The children will also be learning about the word “thankful” and what it means to be thankful. The children will continue to work on becoming proficient in expressing their thoughts and ideas about what is important to them.
Family Engagement– This month the children will be asked to draw a picture of what they are thankful for and share it with the class. I will be sending home journal pages for this activity on Tuesday, November 13th. Please return them by Tuesday, November 20th.

K-Prep
This month we will focus on social studies; self, family, and community. The children will gain awareness of how they relate to their family and community, understand social roles and responsibilities, and recognize and respect similarities and differences in people. We will also focus on science and the knowledge of science concepts. The children will explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are living, non-living, man-made, or naturally occurring.
Family Engagement– Make a collage of special family events that you have had with your family such as special day, trips, holidays, etc. Share the collage with your family at special holiday gatherings this month.
