Welcome to the month of November!!

This month we will be having our school pictures on Nov. 8th. Every child will have their picture taken.   A proof of the picture will be sent home that day with the order forms for anyone that would like to order them.

 

We will be closed on Nov. 12 for Veteran’s day and we will also be closed on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving.

 

Now that the weather is becoming more chilly outside, please bring in hats and gloves for your child. The classrooms will still be going outside daily and we want the children to be able to participate in all outside activities.

 

Celebrating a birthday this month is Ms. Mandy in the 3s on 11/25! Happy birthday!!

 

To all our families, we wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.

 

 

Infants:

This month we will continue to do activities that encourage the babies to focus attention, use working memory and practice self control skills. 

 

Family Engagement Activity: Please decorate the turkey feather that will be sent home and bring it back for our family board. You may decorate it anyway you want. 

 

Classroom Special Events: Thanksgiving lunch for the older babies (with permission from parents)  on Nov. 21st. More information will soon be posted. 

 

Happy 1st birthday to Brayden on Nov. 6 and to Ariana on Nov. 24th!!

 

Crawlers:

This month we will be working on developing muscle control, strength and coordination. We will also encourage the children to become increasingly able to identify unsafe situations and gradually learn strategies for responding to them (PH2A).

Young Toddlers:

This month in math we will be working on number sense and quantity for the numbers 1 and 2. In creative arts, we will be creating with different materials such as crayons, paints and chalk. Our art projects will be displayed through out the room.

 

Family Engagement Activity:  Collage of the things you as a family are thankful for. We will be displaying them on our board.

Older Toddlers:

This month we will continue to work on social and emotional development and self regulation. We will encourage the children to express and regulate their own emotions.  For health and safety practices and self help skills, we will be practicing how to put on our own coats and shoes and hats and gloves.

 

Family Engagement Activity: Decorate our turkey feather for our Thanksgiving board.

3’s Preschool

This month we will turn our focus to Social Studies as we gain awareness of how we relate to families, community and understand roles and responsibilities. We will be doing this by starting with some classroom jobs as well as dramatic play and story time.  We will also focus on history and geography helping children understand the concepts of time ( past, present and future) and place.  We will learn all about the first Thanksgiving as well, as learn about familiar places as well as our own homes. 

 

Family Engagement Activity:  We would like all our families to bring in a picture of their house for the children to be able to use it as a reference in our block area.

4’s Preschool:

Our goal for this month is for the children to show interest and understand a variety of literacy experiences.  Our second goal is for the children to demonstrate book awareness and knowledge of basic print conventions they understand that print carries meaning and spoken words are represented by text. This month we will be discussing harvest, Thanksgiving and stories from Eric Carle.

 

Family Engagement Activity: We will be sharing family favorite recipes. Details to follow.

Pre-K :

This month we will study the author Eric Carle to explore a variety of literacy genres and share opinions about what they did or did not like about the book.  We will also be discussing what a harvest is and learn about the very first Thanksgiving, such as  what they ate to identify similarities and differences between family and cultural traditions. Family Engagement Activity:  We will be learning about landscape art. We will be asking parents to help their children do a landscape picture of their house and front yard. Please have fun with it.  Kindergarten and K-Prep:

This month we will be learning about the concept of time (past, present and future), history and geography.  In mathematics, the students will be learning about measuring objects by their various attributes such as length, height, weight and volume.  

 

Family Engagement Activity: A tradition is a way of doing things that has been passed down from older family members to younger family members. What is your family Thanksgiving traditions? Feel free to send pictures with a sheet that will be soon handed out.

 

Classroom Special Events: A very thankful feast- to celebrate this time of giving and being thankful, we will be having a feast on 11/21.
