Water Play will begin this month! Please see your child’s teacher for specific days and items your child will need!
Infants-
This month we will focus on language development. We will focus on attending to, understanding, and responding to increasing their complex language skills. We will practice recognition of student names, caregiver names, and looking for items when named. We will also focus on phonological awareness of alphabet knowledge as our infants will work on noticing and discriminating sounds and tones of spoken and receptive language.
Family Engagement– Take some photos of your baby during the 4th of July weekend! Share with us what activities you will be doing! Get outside and enjoy the warm weather!
Special Events– Please make sure your baby has a sunhat for outside play.
We will also be making some fun 4th of July artwork to display in our classroom!
Crawlers–
This month we will focus on social and emotional development as the babies work to develop trust in and engage positively with adults who are familiar and consistently present. We are welcoming new friends to our classroom! We will also focus on gross motor development as the children work to develop large muscle control, strength, and coordination; working on pulling up, coasting, and walking.
Family Engagement– We will be decorating our board for “Christmas in July”. Please bring in a small homemade summer ornament to hang! Some ideas are, flip flops, sea shells, red, white, and blue, picture ornaments, stars, or mini stockings.
Special Events– Water play will begin on Tuesday, July 9th. It will be every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Please remember to sunblock your child before coming to school. Thank you!
Young Toddlers–
This month we will focus on gross motor development. We will be working on moving our bodies to music and yoga poses. We will also work on social and emotional development as the children develop an awareness of themselves as individuals with unique thoughts and feelings. We will also work on learning the names of our new friends!
Family Engagement– This month will be focusing on “Commotion in the Ocean”. We will be sending home a fish bowl for you to decorate with your child and return so we can display in the classroom.
Special Events– Water play days will be Monday and Friday beginning on 7/8. A notice was sent home with important items to remember for water play!

Older Toddlers–
This month we will focus on social and emotional development as new children transition to our classroom. We will be focusing on new routines and schedules. We will also focus on science as we explore different ways to use water; sink, float, pouring, mixing, etc.
Family Engagement– Let’s Do Yoga! We will be sending home some yoga cards for you to do with your child at home.
Special Events– Water play days will be Tuesday and Thursday beginning on 7/9.
3’s Preschool–
This month we will be focusing on new classroom schedules and routines. Our goals will be hand washing, manners, and following the classroom rules, as the children work on becoming more independent in these skills.
Family Engagement– This month we will be asking our families to bring in family photos for us to use and display on our classroom board. Please bring in your photo by 7/3!
Special Events– Water play days will be Tuesday and Thursday for the summer. Please make sure to dress your child in the morning and we will change them after we are done. It is important that each child brings a towel and water shoes on these days.

4’s Pre-K–
This month we are welcoming a whole new class to Pre-K. We will be spending a lot of time learning about our classroom rules and how to take care of each other. We will begin to develop trust in and engage positively with our peers and new teachers. Later in the month we will begin learning about the ocean. We will be exploring the characteristics of different types of ocean animals and plants.
Family Engagement– If you have not done so already, please return the “All about my child” form to Ms. Jessica as soon as possible. Please make sure to leave an email address on the form for portfolio updates and monthly newsletters. We have plenty of extra copies if you need another one.
Special Events– Please return summer events form and payment to the office as soon as possible.
Water play days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning July 9th. Please come to school dressed in your swimsuit.

K-Prep–
This month we will focus on scientific inquiry and application. This month we will learn all about sea creatures and ocean life and will use our science processes to study a real fish. We use this standard to help children understand the world around them by exploring what interests them. We will also focus on social and emotional development as the children prepare for the increasing demands of focusing attention to longer tasks and help them to prepare for Kindergarten.
Family Engagement- Visit a beach or park together as a family. Collect nature items and sort them with your child. Try sorting by size color shape, etc. Talk about where they might have come from.
