4’s Pre-K:
This month we will be focusing on social studies. We will be working on “Holidays around the World” unit. We will be traveling to different countries and learning about people from different cultures. Be sure to check out our world map before Christmas to see all the interesting places we’ve visited. Throughout this unit, the children will gain awareness of how they relate to their family and community, understand social roles and responsibilities, and recognize and respect similarities and differences in people.
Family Engagement: This month we will be having a mystery reader opportunity for families. We are inviting our parents to come in as a mystery guest to share a story, and activity or to just have fun with us while we learn and play. If would like to volunteer, please let Ms. Jessica know. You are welcome to come any Monday through Thursday between Dec. 4th and Dec. 21st. We are keeping this program a secret from the children! We want to surprise them with each mystery guest!
Classroom Special Events: We will be having our holiday pajama party on Friday, Dec. 22nd. All the children are invited to attend and wear their comfiest clothes to school. We will be having a special showing of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and some special holiday activities. A sign-up sheet will be posted soon.
Happy birthday: We would like to welcome Hope to our classroom and wish her a Happy Birthday on 12/8! Enjoy your day!
K-prep:
This month we will focus on cognitive development as the children’s skills increase in filtering impulses and sustaining attention on a task. We focus on this goal to help the children learn to regulate themselves to sticking with an activity for longer periods of time so that they will be ready for the longer demands of attention in Kindergarten. We will also focus on creative arts as the children gain appreciation for the arts and explore their own creativity and interests in producing unique work.
Family Engagement: Pay it Forward! Talk with your child about acts of kindness towards others in need. Make a plan to help someone in need and follow through with your child’s help.
Classroom Special Events: On 12/22 we will be having a Polar Express movie and pajama day!
12/25 & 12/26- SNCA closed.
Happy birthday to: Aubrey on 12/14! Enjoy your day!
Here’s to another great month of learning and fun! Thank you for your continued help and support!
