Infants

 

This month the children will gain an appreciation for and participate in creative arts.  They will explore textures of art supplies (paint, glue, etc.) and manipulatives that encourage fine motor skills.  We will also focus on social and emotional development as the children begin to develop trust in and engage positively with adults who are familiar and consistently present in children’s lives.

 

Family Engagement- This month we will be sending home a Christmas tree to decorate as a family with any materials you have at home.  Please return it so we can display in our classroom!

Crawlers

 

This month we will be focusing on the creative arts as the children use a variety of materials to explore and create visual art.  We will also focus on science as the children learn to plan for and carry out investigations and collect, evaluate and communicate information.

 

Family Engagement- Each child will make a homemade ornament to hang on our Holiday Tree in our classroom!

Young Toddlers

 

This month we will focus on social and emotional development as the children work on awareness of themselves and body parts.  We will also work on small muscle control as we introduce cutting skills.

 

Family Engagement- This month we will be sending home a Christmas tree for you to decorate with your child.  Please use any materials you would like including family photos!  You may bring it back in for us to display in our classroom.

Older Toddlers

 

This month we will focus on self, family, and community.  We will be learning about the different holiday traditions that our families celebrate!  We will also work on some fun holiday art and learn some fun holiday songs!

 

Family Engagement- Please make a Christmas tree ornament with your child to be displayed in our classroom.  Some fun ideas could be paper, clay, pinecones, etc.  Have fun!

3’s Preschool

 

This month we will focus on language development.  The children will understand and follow appropriate social and conversational rules.  This will help children to identify when interrupting is inappropriate and allow them to more actively listen to each other and teachers.  We will also have some gross motor fun and work on forward rolls!

 

 

Family Engagement- This month we will be asking families to create a snow person together and return to our classroom for us to display!

 

 

4’s Pre-K

 

This month we will be working on “Holidays Around the World” unit.  We will be using our imagination to travel to different countries around the world and learn about different holiday traditions.  Through this unit the children will gain awareness of how they relate to their family and recognize and respect similarities and differences in people.  We will also be having a gingerbread themed week.  The children will begin to show interest in and understand a variety of literacy experiences.  We will be listening to several different versions of “The Gingerbread Man” story and comparing and contrasting the stories.

Family Engagement- This month we will be having a mystery guest program in Pre-K.  Parents and families will be able to sign up to come in and read a story to our class.  We are keeping this program a surprise for the children.  Ms. Jessica will be sending home more information via email.

 

 

K-Prep

 

This month we will focus on self regulation as the children’s skills increase in filtering impulse and sustaining attention on a task. We will also focus on exploring our own creativity and interest in producing art work as the children gain appreciation for and participate in the creative arts.

 

Family Engagement- Pay it Forward!  Talk to your child about acts of kindness towards others in need.  Make a plan to help someone in need and follow through with your child’s help.  ‘Tis the season for giving!
