Welcome to the month of December!
Stork’s Nest will be closed on Monday and Tuesday December 24th and 25th in the celebration of Christmas and on Dec 31st and Jan 1st for the new year. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

Infant Room A and B:
Children will learn a sense of self, family and community. Children will also engage in positive relationships and interactions with other children.
Family Engagement: Holiday card exchange
Classroom Special Events: Closed on Dec 24th, 25th and 31st.
Infant Room C:
Children will use gestures to communicate their interest in objects and people. Children will also engage in repeated actions including movements and vocalizations.

Crawler Room A and B:
Children will develop self-help skills by practicing feeding themselves finger foods and using child safe utensils. Children will also gain an appreciation for and participate in the creative arts by experimenting with a variety of mediums.
Family Engagement: Holiday card exchange- please bring in cards by 12/21

Younger Toddler Room A:
Children will attempt to try new games and toys. Children will also open books and bring books to an adult to read.
Family Engagement: Parents will decorate an ornament with their child. Ms. Alex will hang them within the classroom.

Younger Toddler Room B:
Children will learn to carry a large toy while walking or playing. Children will also try to do some things without help. For example, putting shoes back on without help from the teacher.
Family Engagement: Decorate a Christmas tree.

Older Toddlers Room:
Children will sustain physical activity for at least 15 minutes at a time for at least 30 minutes total each day. Children will also use tools to collect information and to influence their environment (eg. If a toy is on a towel, pulling the blanket to bring the toy closer.
Family Engagement: Send out snowman parts to be made at home.

Three’s Room:
Children will be able to name and identify some written numbers. Children will also be able to identify themselves as a part of a family and community.
Family Engagement: Polar express movie night 12/14
Classroom Special Events: Christmas party Dec 22nd
Fours Room:
Children will understand the concept of time (past, present and future) and place. We will discuss specific holidays that are celebrated throughout the month of December. Therefore, the children will also attend to, understand and respond to increasingly complex language. Because of this, the children will be introduced to new vocabulary such as Kwanza, Hanukkah and other unfamiliar holidays.

Pre-K Classroom:
Children will learn to plan for and carry out investigations and collect, evaluate and communicate information. The children will also gain awareness of how they relate to their family, community and recognize and respect similarities and differences in people.
Family Engagement: December traditions to fill our class “snow globe”. Write or draw your favorite family winter or holiday tradition on the provided “snowball”.
