School Reminders
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING SO MUCH FUN AT THE STORK’S NEST IN WARWICK! WE HOPE EVERYONE IS ENJOYING THEIR SUMMER! JUST A REMINDER THAT WE WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 13TH FOR VJ DAY!

Infants
This month we will work on fine motor skills. We will explore food with our hands and fingers; such as crackers and other easy to handle foods. We will also initiate and engage in simple back and forth interactions as well as interactions with others by using facial expressions, vocalizations, and gestures. This will enhance social play and social and emotional development.
Family Engagement– Please bring in your favorite book from home for us to share with the class!
Special Events–
On 8/24 we will be having a last day of summer picnic!
Please bring finger foods (ie. Puffs, pre-cut fruit, etc.). We also will say good-bye to our oldest friends who are transitioning to crawlers with Ms. Mishele and Ms. Ana.

Crawlers
This month we will work more on self-help skills as the children use a fork or spoon to feed themselves with some spilling. We will also work on traveling skills as the babies become steady on their feet!
We would like to welcome our new friends Allie, Elias, Ace, and Dylan to our younger side!
Family Engagement– On Friday, August 24th, we will be having an end of the summer snack picnic! Look for more details to come!
Young Toddlers
This month we will focus on social and emotional development. We will work on using indoor voices during play and meal times. We will also focus on language development. We will work on simple rules of the classroom during group time.
Family Engagement– This month we will be sending home materials for you to use to decorate your own aquarium with your child. Please return it to us so we can display in our class!
Special Events-
8/13 SNCA closed
Water Play will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays. Our last day will be on 8/24.
Older Toddlers
This month we will focus on language development. We will work on using our words to express our feelings. We will also work on physical health and motor development as the children become increasingly able to identify unsafe situations and gradually learn strategies for responding to them.
Family Engagement-
We will be sending home a scavenger hunt for each family to complete with their child. You can make a collage out of the pictures and bring it back in for us to display.

3’s Preschool
This month we will be working on social and emotional development as the children engage in positive relationships and interactions with their peers as well as develop confidence to complete an action successfully and independently. In social studies, we will learn all about Hawaii, the islands and the culture.
Family Engagement- Keep your eye open for a Hawaiian themed day and what to wear or bring!
Special Events– We would like to welcome Ms. Jill as our new lead 3’s preschool teacher! We are happy to have her join us and wish Ms. Dot the best of luck in her new position!
4’s Pre-K
This month we will be focusing on physical health and motor development. The children will be working on health and safety practices. As they continue to become more comfortable in the classroom, they will also be able to identify the differences between safe and unsafe situations. The children will also begin to develop writing and drawing skills as we work on our first self portraits of the year!
Family Engagement–
We will be traveling to the rainforest this month. We will be having show and share on Tuesday, August 7th. The children are invited to bring in a favorite stuffed animal from home to tell the class about.

K-Prep
This month we will be focusing on cognitive development as the children will become increasingly able to filter their impulses and sustain attention to a task. In science we will learn about different animals in the rainforest and exploring what else is in the rainforest.
Family Engagement-
Take time with your child to explore nature by going for a walk together or visit a zoo and “wonder” out loud with them about different animals or natural objects such as “I wonder where rocks come from”, to build their curiosity of the world around them.
