Welcome to the month of August!

 

Special Notices:

This month is also packed with special exciting activities.

 

Animal Adventures will be here to put on two shows for the children in older toddlers through Kindergarten.  The show will be on Aug. 9th.

 

We will be closed on Monday, Aug. 13 for Victory day.

 

On Aug. 15 the ice cream truck will be here for the children.

 

Aug. 16, the Mad Scientist will be here teaching fun experiments for the children in 3s through the Kindergarten room.

 

The bouncy house will be here again for the children on Aug.21.

 

The children will be able to get Kona Ice on Aug. 24.

 

Please remember to fill out your child’s permission slips for all of these great activities and give it to your child’s teacher.

 

Our summer program will be ending on Friday, Aug. 31.  The first day of Kindergarten will be on Tuesday, Sept. 4th and this will also be the start of the new school year for all of the other classrooms.  Some children will be moving to their new room on Sept. 4th.  If you are not sure if your child is moving, please see your child’s teacher or stop by the office.

 

Celebrating a birthday this month is Ms. Sherry, our curriculum coordinator on Aug.10, Ms. Stefanie in Infants on Aug.11, and Ms. Dot (our new lead teacher in 3s) on Aug. 26. Happy Birthday!!

 

 

Infants:

Opening Info: 

This month we will continue to work on social and emotional development and continue to engage in positive relationships with caregivers and establishing trust.  We will also work on their self confidence to do certain things and becoming more independent while encouraging the ability to think and do things for themselves.

 

Family Engagement Activity:

Ice Cube Play; freeze popsicle sticks with food coloring and then have them color with the popsicle stick. They will have fun learning about colors, and textures.

Crawlers:

Opening Info: Children develop the ability to express and regulate their own emotions. Example: finding a favorite toy to play with, which in turn, makes them happy. We will also be working on controlling impulses. For example: we are working on gentle hands.

 

Classroom Special Events:

Moving up pizza party on Aug. 31. More information will soon be available.

 

Family Engagement Activity:  Picture of your favorite thing to do during the summer.

Young Toddlers:

 

Opening Info:

This month we will be working on Health and Safety.  We will encourage friends to be safe when playing and to always wash their hands before every meal. In Social and Emotional, we will be working on encouraging positive relationships with other children and adults.

 

 

Family Engagement Activity:  Bring in a picture of your family doing a fun summer activity.

Older Toddlers:

 

Opening Info:

This month we will be working on social and emotional development and self regulation. Children will develop the confidence to complete an action successfully or independently. We will also encourage expressing and controlling emotions. In language development, children will be encouraged to follow two step directions that involve familiar experiences and objects.  For example: find your shoes and bring them to me.

3’s Preschool:

 

Opening Info:

This month we will continue to explore structured and unstructured physical activities and develop large muscle control strength and coordination. We will also continue to work on self help skills, such as washing our hands before every meal and cleaning up after we are finished with a center.

 

Classroom Engagement Activity: 

Water play every Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

 

 

4’s Preschool:

 

Opening Info: 

This month we will be working on book awareness and knowledge of basic print conventions. The children will be encouraged to understand that print carries meaning and spoken words are represented by text. We will also be working on self help skills.

 

Classroom Special Events: This month we will be learning about the rainforest, nursery rhymes and states in the USA.  Aug. 29, we will have our summer send off celebration!

 

Family Engagement Activity:  This month, families will be going on a rainbow scavenger hunt.  Details will be in your child’s folders by July 30th.

 

 

Pre-K :

 

Opening Info:

This month we will be telling campfire stories during our camp week. We will be learning about the sequence of a story. We will also learn about the different things we need for a camping and the different animals we may see.  In science we will be exploring cause in effect with many different summer experiments.  We will be intentionally baring the action to change the reaction.

 

Classroom Special Events:  Aug. 31. End of the year Luau!

 

Family Engagement Activity: August 9th, National book day, bring in your child’s favorite book to school

Kindergarten and K-Prep:

 

Opening Info: This month we will be starting our unit on the rainforest and exploring various types of animals that live there. 

 

 

Classroom Special Events: Spa week at the end of the month. The students will be participating in yoga and experiencing a spa day.

 

Family Engagement Activity: Family Egg drop Challenge. Create a container that will protect an egg from breaking from a high fall using multiple materials.  More information will soon be posted.
